Video Meeting Held with Medical Experts to Serbia
 

On April 9, 2020, the Health Commission of Guangdong Province hosted a video meeting with anti-epidemic medical team to Serbia. Team members from The First Affiliated Hospital, Sun Yat-sen University, Prof. Guo Yubiao and Prof. Xiong Yan, reported on their work respectively.

The Chinese experts have been in Serbia for more than 20 days during which they have worked closely with the Serbian government on the prevention and control of COVID-19 by doing thorough research in the communities, sharing Chinese anti-epidemic experience, promoting training for medical personnel, and supervising the construction of mobile cabin hospitals. Their fruitful work has been highly acknowledged by the Serbian government.

Prof. Xiao Haipeng, Vice President of Sun Yat-sen University and President of FAH-SYSU, spoke highly of the experts as heroes who follow the spirit of “heal people’s body and soul in addition to treating illness; save the nation and the world in addition to saving lives”.

On behalf of SYSU and FAH-SYSU, Prof. Xiao Haipeng expressed greetings and appreciation to the experts and looked forward to their returning in triumph. Prof. Kuang Ming, Vice President of FAH-SYSU, answered the relevant questions on international medical assistance.
 

FAH-SYSU, Oxford, CUHK Webinar on Precision Medicine Held in the Hospital
 

On April 6, 2020, The First Affiliated Hospital, Sun Yat-sen University, University of Oxford and Chinese University of Hong Kong co-hosted a virtual round-table discussion on research collaboration.

More than 50 experts attended the meeting, including Prof. Xiao Haipeng, Vice President of Sun Yat-sen University and President of FAH-SYSU; Prof. Joseph Sung, Mok Hing Yiu Professor of Medicine, Chinese University of Hong Kong; Prof. Simon Leedham, Director of Center for Personalized Medicine the University of Oxford; Mr. Rajarshi Banerjee, CEO of Perspectum.

The parties exchanged anti-epidemic information, and shared experience in prevention and control of COVID-19. In addition, the progress of cooperation in the fields of “colorectal cancer”, "diabetes and multiple organ imaging”, "hepatocellular carcinoma and immunotherapy”, "inflammatory bowel disease and risk prediction” and “the construction of core facilities in precision medicine” were reported respectively.
 

Video Meeting Held between Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and FAH-SYSU
 

On March 31, 2020, The First Affiliated Hospital, Sun Yat-sen University had a video meeting with experts in Dana-Farber Cancer Institute of Harvard Medical School, including Prof. David Read, Vice President of Medical Affairs, Mr. Adam Reich, Vice President of Business Development, and Ms. Katya Losk, Director of International Strategy Department.

Prof. Xiao Haipeng, Vice President of SYSU and President of FAH-SYSU, Prof. Zeng Jinsheng, Vice President of FAH-SYSU, and Prof. Kuang Ming, Vice President of FAH-SYSU, attended the meeting.

Prof. Xiao Haipeng shared the hospital’s anti-epidemic experience, and the two sides discussed about cooperation in oncology, with hematology and breast surgery as the initial collaborating areas.
